Working Out On Vacation

Should you workout when you are on vacation? There is nothing wrong with taking a week off here and there. However, I personally love getting in a couple workouts when I am on vacation. Using the environment around me to mix it up.

Bodyweight training is going to be your friend on vacation. There are tons of different bodyweight exercises you can do with zero equipment. Here are some examples

  • Yoga
  • Squats
  • Sprints
  • Lunges
  • Push Ups
  • Jumping
  • Planks
  • Sit Ups

The list goes on and on. Depending where you vacation will bring some more options as well. Let’s say you find a park bench. Here is a simple but effective workout you can do:

  • Push Ups Feet Elevated 10-15 reps
  • Jumps to bench 10 reps
  • Bench Dips 20 reps
  • Step ups 15 reps each leg
  • Seated Leg Crunches 15 reps

Repeat 5 times.

Keep the workouts short and intense so they don’t take up much of your vacation time.

When I am walking around, wherever I am, I look for possible workout spots. Things to hang from, steps to climb, benches and everything in between. But do you know what is the biggest thing I look for?

A view.

For me, there is nothing better than working out by the ocean, a lake or on top of a mountain. There is something about it that just feels amazing.

Another reason I like working out on vacation is because it makes me feel a little better about indulging in food while there.

Do you need to workout on vacation? Of course not. But I personally find it enjoyable and you may too!
